The big performance hall was restaured during the restauration period of 1980 – 1983; new elements of monumental art have been added, moulding, painting, chandeliers and other lighting devices.
The first performance to be presented after the restauration took place on Februyary 13th 1983 and was „Despot Eraclidul” by D. Mutaşcu, directed by Constantin Codrescu
The curtin always rises special interest; it's author is famous Val Munteanu, and it was made at Decorativa Bucureşti. It contains specific local elements, that remind us of the history and architecture of Braila (the old houses and boats), the riches of the Danube river and Baragan plains but also symbols of theatre.
The capacity of the big hall is 265 seats downstairs, 32 seats at the boxes, 10 seats in the central box, 52 seats at the balcony. It has air conditioning and full computerized lights and sound equipment and sliding stage.
RENTAL FEE
Always outside rehearsal and performance times, the hall can be rented for shows, conferences, etc. the fee is 750 LEI per hour and a minimum of two hours/ rental is obligatory.
